This is Braves Country!

BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN!
I just happened to be off this past Thursday and the Braves just happened to be playing that night, so we decided we'd trek the 3 hour drive to and from Atlanta in one day for the sake of seeing one of their greats before retiring. The extra special part is that my dad and brother were able to make as well. My pops is the ultimate fan, the man truly loves the game of baseball and my brother grew up watching Chipper. I was partial to David Justice. Not sure why, I understand baseball- my brother played for 10+ years and I even played some softball for awhile- but I can't say I follow games, seasons, stats, RBIs and ERAs and all that ESPNsy stuff. It was a great game and I got to enjoy that experience with my dad and brother who love and appreciate all its' awesomeness. Here are a few pics, admittedly they aren't the best, I need to get a zoom lens for these type occasions.

So I got a fairly  close close-up of the man himself, #10 Chipper Jones.
And here when we won!
I had to throw this one in. I'm a FreemanFan myself. He did hit the homer that put them in the playoffs! Annnnd THIS IS BRAVES COUNTRY. I wanted to put a big yellow arrow to the man in the center #5 Freddie Freeman and one to the title of this post itself, but adobe/photoshop savvy I am not...yet!

sweet and simple

The other day Josh brought me home some pretty and pretty surprising flowers from the grocery store. The kicker is they were a budget friendly sort of surprise, which for a young and newly married couple who decided to move back into their parents' house for the sake of saving some money and living like no one, so we can one day live like no one (more on that one day) is a plus plus. SCORE! And I got them for no reason at all- just because- happy day flowers! :)
The surprising part about the flowers in particular is that I have never been much of a sunflower kinda gall. I'm more of a danty, simple, chic, sweet flower kinda girl- if you couldn't tell, I know what I like and I like me some tulips ;)- but once I got them cut down and plopped into my OJ glass jar they didn't seem so big, bold, loud, and yellow- never judge a book... or flower!

Here's how I cut them. Pretty simple and I'm sure you've seen or heard to cut the stems at an angle- at least that's what we've heard is proper/best. : / ?
Here's how I 'configured' how much to cut off. Rocket science, I know! Actually, I did this with a few of the stems, then I just guesstimated/eyeballed/cut without thinking. Then, because all of my vases were packed tightly in our storage unit, I used what we had, which happened to be a glass jar for juice.
Then I added one packet of the flower food that came with each bundle and presto, we're done.

Sweet and simple and for no reason at all- just because- happy day flowers!

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

While I see that I may not have made it clear, at least to myself, what I want to get out of blogging now, let me prologue this entry with that (better) explanation. I want to keep a record of memories, whatever they may be: trips, ideas, experiences, food, organizing (I love it more than anyone should), crafting, whatever is to come in this phase of life. That being a somewhat complicated, unexpected vision for us (the hubs and pup debut to come) at 25, newly married, and figuring out what's next on this journey. I hope to take in the trees, instead of constantly focusing on the forest, the bigger picture, the end game, the destination. I hope this blog allows to take to the time to appreciate all the beautiful, wonderful, AWESOME things happening in our journey. So without further ado.

Pawley's Island, South Carolina
May 25-28, 2012

Along this journey we've come to Pawleys Island, South Carolina. You'll find it here:

Thank you Google maps.

It's about a 30 minute drive from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Our dear friends, Betsy and Matty, invited us on this trip, and let me say, I was more than excited. Cue clappy-pointy-toe happy dance. If you can't imagine it, Josh says, trust him you won't be sorry.
Side note: You'll notice several pictures of this trip, none of which are of our lovely friends because between this dumbo computer and my acting out phone I can't seem to get one of them to appear straight from this trip, sorry friends, you'll be back I'm sure for some blogger loving in the future.

Once we arrived, we scurried to dinner, as the 7+ hour drive landed us in town rather late and kept us quite hungry. The pizza was good and, as Josh would agree, the wings were better. The boy loves some chicken wings. Oh, I forgot to mention (in order at least) we got to drive across some pretty neat bridges on our ride up here. By neat I mean awesome. And by awesome I mean you should see them. I thought of Dr. Shelon Cooper and how he would flatly explain the physics behind its design, which is what half intrigues me, the science and mathematics of it all. Really cool. The other half, it's just so pretty! Here's a picture of my favorite one, Cooper Ridge bridge, Mt. Pleasant, SC all instagrammed up.

Day two, our first full day, we arrive at River City Cafe (8/10) for lunch. Three hamburgers and one BLT later, our bellies were full. We discussed our like of the Hunger Games series and discovered our game names, which I have found out changes each time you enter your name into the online HG name generators. Boo. I remember liking my name at the time, now when I put it in, it's pretty lame-O. Later we decided to go to the beach for the afternoon. Huntington Beach State Park pinned. The weather held up and I found some nice sea shells. I put them in my neato-bandito cup from River City Cafe. Once I decide what to do with them, I'll let y'all know. Pins and needles. Pins and needles. We found ourselves at Drunken Jacks (collective 6-/10) for dinner. Not completely horrible but no cigar by any means. Here's a picture of the beach and one of Josh and I ready for dinner.

Day three, we grab lunch at Goucos (solid 8/10), deli sandwiches. I know, sounds pretty bummy, we get up and get straight to the food, but it's something Josh and I love about our trips away, the grub can really make it or break it. Okay, not break it, but we do love good food. Then the boys golf, Betsy pools it up, I sleep. Boo me. What are vacays for if not to sleep... a lot!? At last, the anticipated casino cruise. In keeping with the theme, first, the food was a total bust (not even sure what/how to score it because it was food and we wanted food, so I'll give you a :( /10). The first thirty minutes, mind you this is a 3 hour cruise, for Betsy and I was awesome, we had made something like $6 doubling, tripling, etc. on $.25 slot machines. Then we lost most of our $50ish dollars and our :) went to :( The last 15 minutes or so showed some promise and Josh had made a few bucks on Black Jack I think. He wasn't so sure what he was doing in the beginning, but by the end of it and $10 up he had decided he needed to study up and make sure he brought it on the next casino cruise we were to go on that had gambling or any cruise for that matter ;) Finally, we ended the night with a much propagated game of bingo. Spoiler alert, we didn't win any $15,000 or some amount so ridiculous. All in all it was fun and we even discussed that we'd love to love go on a cruise together, we're thinking something tropical. One day! Here's a picture of one of our bingo cards and one of Josh and his AWESOME winning Black Jack chips.

Day four, lunch at Blue Crab (8/10) and our favorite for sure. Consensus YUMM! Crab sandwiches, shrimp bangy tacos, one gone cheeseburger. So good. Then an outlet mall 45 minutes away that I just had to swing by since we don't have any close to us at home. Honestly, it was a bust of sorts- we need to keep our dollars! :( on great deals :):):) on saving money when I really want to spend it. Then we had to head back home. Audiobooks, music, worries, the letter game (depending on who you ask the winner is debatable), laughter, and some whistling like a pro abound. 400+ miles ahead...

Last side note: We stopped at this great candy shop one night and I took this picture of a candy favorite for a candy fien friend of ours who wasn't able to make it with her hubs, due to some amateur but, nonetheless awesome I'm sure, skateboarding and a gruesome collarbone injury, as a thinking of you. Don't you just love swedish fish! Actually, I don't. But they sure are pretty. And very red.

Last last side note: he's given up skateboarding (I think) and the collarbone is on the mend!
